His approach to improvisation is a highly evolved language, stripped of needless fill and expectancy. Musical experiences with him have opened up vital new insights to creation and interpretation. His willingness to discuss the deep, oftentimes avoided issues behind forming musical improvisations is a rare thing amongst the majority of musicians. It is an ability to put one's finger on a rather uncategorizable goal, and in this case, an approach to a truly unique style. These duets, for the most part recorded in my living room, document the foundations for our musical dialectic together, much-expanded upon in our quartet, the UP.
