Ansel Adams was friends with my grandfather Ira Katz, who was a chemist, and provided him with the chemicals he needed to develop his photographs.
Growing up seeing those images inspired me early on to the meditations and studies to be had with the camera in nature. To this day it's still one of my favorite things to do, should that be the instrument of choice.
I can't help but feel like everything we do, whatever it is, can become a means—a tool—to get to the source. Nature.
